ASIA CAMP 27: WE'RE GOING TO THE PHILIPPINES!
We're doing it again! In late April 2027 we're heading back to South East Asia. Where? Buruanga, in the Philippines. Never heard of Buruanga? Well, to be honest, we hadn't either. We were looking at Boracay, and stumbled across a fantastic boutique resort - Casa Loubel - with a great big bag of positive reviews... and two permanently erected beach volleyball courts, with floodlights. Only 25 minutes south of Caticlan port (the ferry port across to Boracay) on the west coast... perfectly sheltered, away from the North Easterly winds still blowing a touch in late April.
We'll be close enough to Boracay, to spend a midweek afternoon/evening playing at Station 3... and socialising in Station 2. It also means we can celebrate the LOVE Boracay Festival on the weekend concluding our camp. Haven't heard of the Love Boracay Festival? We'll have more info below.
So, what's all this mean? Warriors BV are, for a fourth time, throwing down another excitingly awesome, funnest and enjoyingablest training camp ever created in the history of beach volleyball camps... since the last ones we've done.
We did Thailand in 24 and 26, Vietnam in 25... now we're doing the Philippines in 27. It'll be the back end of high season, which means it'll be nice and warm, and sunny, and not rainy or windy; all the things you want for a beach training camp.
This camp will be open to a range of levels: from advanced. all the way through to low intermediate.
Khao Lak, Thailand was great in September 2024, Nam Hoi An, Vietnam was awesome in August 2025, Khao Lak in April totes amaaazing in 2026... Buruanga (and Boracay) will be even better!
We'll have great, inexpensive accommodation, you'll get sick merchandise and be around a whole lot of cool crew improving their skills and meeting new peeps.
Roughly 25 minutes south of Caticlan Airport, along the west coast of Aklan, you'll find Buruanga. A small fishing town, filled with chilled locals, Buruanga has beautiful beaches to one side and a protected national park on the other. The average temp for late April is THE perfect temp for beach volleyball... 27-29 degrees.
It's close enough to Boracay, to make it our midweek avo getaway... yet, right at the entrance of a pristine national park. Here's a little more info according to a Google AI bot, when asked to describe the Buruanga area... using the words 'What to do in Buruanga in late April, in one paragraph':
In late April, you can make the most of the peak dry season weather by spending your time cliff diving, kayaking, and snorkeling at Ariel's Point, or beach volleyball on the courts at Casa Loubel. For a deeper adventure, explore the lush landscapes and caves of Hacienda Maria, or simply relax on the uncrowded sands of Buruanga's isolated beaches and Pagatpat Mangroves Park.
Turns out a Google AI bot can make it sound great! No, there was no human content in that paragraph... completely AI.
This is where we will be holding the camp. Casa Loubel is a boutique beachfront resort, with just enough space to cater to our whole crew. There are a range of room sizes and shapes, from standard rooms for two, to larger rooms and villas that will accommodate up to eight peeps! The more peeps in a group villa/room the cheaper the stay. The best part is, the cost is about a quarter of the price we've paid at previous camps.
In their words:
Beachfront and Private Beach Area: Casa Loubel Beach Resort in Buruanga offers a private beach area and direct beachfront access. Guests can relax by the swimming pool with stunning views or enjoy the sun terrace.
Comfortable Accommodations: Rooms feature air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and sea views. Additional amenities include balconies, terraces, and free WiFi, ensuring a comfortable stay.
Dining Experience: The resort’s restaurant serves local, Asian, and international cuisines in a family-friendly and romantic ambiance. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner are available.
Leisure and Activities: Guests can enjoy water sports, beach volleyball, beach tennis, and canoeing. The resort provides a hot tub, fitness center, and outdoor play area for entertainment.
But really, what you all need to know is...
They have two purpose-built beach volleyball courts WITH LIGHTS! We can game it out well past dark.
Here's a great clip, by a dude called Charles who, quite obviously, has a drone.
We'll have a specific training itinerary once we have numbers confirmed.
This will be our first camp in a climate which will allow for training further into the day, so our usual early mornings, and evenings, may be slightly amended to allow for more training. Either way, we'll make sure we give you all the training you need , while also giving you the bulk of the day to enjoy the resort, beaches and other local options... and there are so many!
We're currently having chats with the local Boracay Volleyball crew, and plan to go hang out with them at Station 3 (they have courts) on one of the afternoons (possibly Wednesday). We may also arrange a training day at Newcoast Beach. So many potential options.
The below training times will undoubtedly change, once we have numbers confirmed, and know how far into a day we can train. But for now, use this as a guide. Please note, sessions are not mandatory. If you have planned a day trip somewhere and can't do a session, let us know. We're all good. The bottom line is, we want you to have fun.
These are the current, TBC times:
TRAINING
(Monday - Friday)
MORNING
7am - 8am - The Morning Hustle (ADV/Intermediate)
8am - 10am - ADV/Intermediate (Crt 1)/Lower intermediate (Crt 2)
AFTERNOON/EVENING

7pm - 9pm - Game play (optional) (Both courts)
It'll be fun! Join us...
This totally awesome tournament will depend on whether there's a tournament linked to the Love Boracay Festival. Looking at previous festivals, the tournament either runs on the long weekend OR the weekend prior. Once we know this, we'll be able to let you know whether to book to be there playing before the camp starts, or once it ends. From what the organisers have told us, it caters to all levels.
Watch this space... we'll find out soon.
Following an extensive 2 minute search, we have come to the understanding that a) It's pretty massive from Saturday 1st to Monday 3rd May, b) there may be a tournament across this weekend, and c) Monday 3rd is Philippines Labor Day.
Here's some more info, stolen from wherever Google AI decided to steal it from... we're plagiarising the plagiarised:
The Love Boracay period is the peak of the Philippine summer and includes massive beach music festivals, DJ sets, water sports events, and spectacular fireworks displays. Many of the beach stage events are free to attend, though select premium club parties may require cover charges or event passes.
Planning a trip for the festival requires securing accommodation early, as the Labor Day week is highly popular with both local and international tourists.
We have had some great chats with Casa Loubel Resort and they're bending over backwards to ensure this is a fantastic camp.
They have larger group rooms to accommodate those happy to hang out in numbers, and some smaller rooms for the couples who want their space. Prices range from $25 to $50 per night, depending on your room selections. Yes, you read that right... and it includes breakfast (not a buffet). This is definitely our most affordable location to date.
We'll have a breakdown of rooms and prices in the coming days.
There are no direct flights to Caticlan Airport (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) from outside the Philippines, so you'll need a connecting flight or layover. That'll either be Manila or Cebu. You could get a flight from KL to Kalibo, and take a scenic (cough, 2 hour) drive around... if you want to save some cash. Either way, getting there will take more than one flight.
We'll have a full rundown on how to get there soon... both for the budget minded and the peeps swimming in pesos. Watch this space!
The below cost is for training and inter-crew tournament only.
This price does not include flights, accommodation, insurance, touristy stuff, transport, food, alcohol or cheap massages. It does though, include all training sessions, the Saturday inter-crew tournament and some sweet, sweet merch.
A deposit will confirm your spot.

Do you have to stay at the location?
No. Although, given we're using Casa Loubel Resort facilities, and their fantastically inexpensive prices, we'd hope our crew support the peeps who are supporting us. What we found with the last three camps, is that the pricing for the resorts we choose are either at comparable prices, to those around, or better. When we're all at the same location, it's easier to hang out and enjoy the experience of getting to know a whole bunch of new peeps. We have arranged a deal with Casa Loubel Resort to ensure their prices stay as affordable as they are currently.

What is the estimated budget you should expect for the camp?
This depends on who you fly with, when you plan to arrive and leave, whether you stay at the location and factoring in the camp costs. Using the 2024, 25 and 26 camps as a guide, 2k should be a safe number. This wouldn't include the spending you do at a night market, the endless cheap massages you endure of an evening, or the hire of a scooter. 2k should do it. In the case of the Philippines; it may be a little more expensive travelling to our destination, but it'll be balanced out by an accommodation price roughly a quarter of our previous camps.
-----
Is this camp OK for beginner/intermediate level players? Or are you expecting only advanced level players?
At this stage the camp is far enough away, that we could accept ALL LEVELS, with the idea that a beginner signing up three months (or more) prior, could improve enough to be considered a lower intermediate level player by the date of the camp. That said, given the more relaxed temperatures expected, we are likely to have more training times available, and therefore can cater to more levels. So, yes, we will have options from Advanced to beginner level players at this camp.
-----
Do you need a visa for the Philippines? Should we get insurance?
This is a good question... as of writing this, if you're an Australian or European Union citizen, you are granted 30 Day visa's on arrival for all tourism and business related travel... as long as your passport does not have an expiry date within 6 months of travel. The Philippine government don't currently have a pre-arrival ETA - Electronic Travel Authorisation. If this changes, we'll add the link here.
We recommend you purchase travel insurance. You may find you have it as a benefit of your credit card, or with your current health insurance. We will have some travel insurance options in the Whatsapp group (you receive a link to this group once you have paid a deposit. If you have been on a previous camp, you'll have access already).
-----
Will training be similar to (Melbourne) Sunsets/Saturday sessions?
In that 'fun, make sure you enjoy the training', kinda way... yes. But, this will be five straight days of double sessions; they will be more structured, with specific technical focus each day. For those living outside of Melbourne, our aim is for you to have as much fun as possible, while you learn. We want you to come away from the camp a better play, with a smile you can't remove.
-----
So, a deposit confirms a spot?
Yes. Unless we run out of spots. When we move into the last three months before the camp, we no longer take deposits, only the full payment. If you're struggling to get the full payment, message Bam and we can arrange a payment structure.
-----
What is the capacity of the camp?
We will only have access to two courts, but more time in the day to work with.. 32 is currently our happy place. This may drop, but likely won't expand.
-----
Do you accept people from outside Australia, to attend these camps?
You could be from anywhere in the world, and we'll accept you. We are an Australian based training group, but have coaches who have travelled and trained peeps all over the planet. As long as you can get to the Philippines for the dates of the camp, we'd love you to join us. Having people from different parts of the world means more friends to visit in the future. Definitely, come and join us!
-----
Does the camp fee include accommodation, food, flights?
No. The camp fee includes ALL group training sessions, the Saturday inter-crew event and merch. Flights, accommodation, travel insurance, food etc. are all separate.
-----
Is the 'inter-crew' tournament a compulsory part of the camp?
No. The inter-crew tournament is just a fun way to end the camp. Weather pending, we'll run it.
-----
Is training compulsory?
No. We know this camp is as much a holiday as it is a training camp, so if you want to go on a day tour and it leaves early... you can miss a training session. You may go out for the day and want to continue it into the evening, you can miss a session. We want you to have fun, and get better while doing it.
-----
If training is in the morning and late afternoon/evening... what do we do during the day?
Whatever you want! Treat it like a holiday. Cos, it kinda is. There will be a bunch of touristy things on offer. Relax on the beach, get in on water sports like snorkeling, paddleboarding, and crystal kayaking... or just dive into the pool do a lap and then take in the jacuzzi bubbles. There's a gym, beach tennis, or, now this could be cool... get out and play some more volleyball. That's all if you hang about the resort.
Wanna go further, there's a national park to the east, sightseeing to the south and one of the most reputable islands in the world only 25 minutes north...
-----
Will we be able to get up to Boracay?
That's the plan! The last few camps, we have had a Wednesday evening off training, so we could go and visit Hoi An (25 camp), or Memories bar (26 camp) as a crew. We're currently chatting with the locals who run courts at Station 3 on White Beach, in Boracay, to go hang and play. Given the Love Boracay festival is happening, it'll be a 'must do' while we're there.

We will add more frequently asked questions right about here... as those questions come in.
